[Shield] (+1 Might while I'm a defender.) When I attack, stun an enemy unit here. (It doesn't deal combat damage this turn.)
Payoff
Deck
- Legend domains must cover Calm (the Shrine) and Order (Leona) — Radiant Dawn, Emperor of the Sands, Green Father, Eye of Twilight.
Prerequisites
- THE SHRINE NEEDS TWO EVENTS AND LEONA SUPPLIES BOTH IN ONE ATTACK. 'When you kill a stunned enemy unit' is a kill of a unit that is already stunned; Leona's attack trigger stuns a defender at the battlefield she is attacking (383.4.e places it at the Attacker designation), and the combat damage step then kills that same defender. 428.1 defines Killing as 'the action of a Permanent going to the trash from the board', which combat damage performs.
- WHY THE STUN DOES NOT MAKE THE KILL HARDER OR EASIER. 423.1.c: 'A Stunned Unit must still have damage applied to it equal to, or greater than, its full might' — #61's correction, so the stun changes nothing about the damage needed. What it changes is 423.1.b: the stunned defender contributes no Might to the damage coming back, so your attackers survive to make the kill. The two clauses pull in opposite directions and only the second one matters here.
- AIM THE DAMAGE AT THE STUNNED BODY, because 465.2.c.3 forces lethal in full onto one unit before any goes to the next: if the garrison has other defenders you may be obliged to overkill the stunned one first anyway, which is what you want, or the assignment may never reach it, which is what kills the entry's payoff. Against a garrison of one, it always connects.
- It is a draw a turn, capped by the Shrine's own exhaust and free otherwise — no Energy, no Power, and 315.1.b readies the gear every Awaken. Leona costs nothing per attack either, so the recurring price of the pair is zero.
- Leona is a 4-Might body with [Shield] (814.1.c, +1 while defending) walking into a garrison; she is the fragile half, and losing her ends the engine. The Shrine survives her, which is why it is the payoff rather than the engine in the roles.
- 423.1.a.1 forbids stunning an already-stunned unit and 423.1.a.2 clears stuns at the end-of-turn cleanup, so each combat gets one stun and the same defender is a legal target again next turn.
- Sibling: solari-chief-facebreaker-shrine-kill already runs the Shrine with OGN-225 Solari Chief, whose play trigger kills an ALREADY-stunned unit outright — that row buys the kill with a card, this one buys it with a combat that was happening anyway.
Steps
- Play Solari Shrine (3 Energy) and Leona, Determined (4 Energy + 1 Order Power).
- Move Leona to an occupied enemy battlefield. She gains the Attacker designation (464.2.c.1, 464.2.c.3) — an empty one gives none (807.1.d, 461).
- Her attack trigger stuns an enemy unit there (383.4.e). 423.1.b removes that unit's Might from the combat damage step.
- Combat damage resolves. Assign lethal to the stunned defender (465.2.c.3 forces it in full onto one unit at a time): it dies, which is a kill under 428.1.
- The Shrine's trigger fires: exhaust it to draw 1. It readies at your next Awaken (315.1.b) and Leona attacks again.
Per iteration
+1 card per combat in which a stunned defender dies, at no Energy and no Power

Both cards checked against data/legality.json: legal in both formats. No unruled reading. Leona, Determined was chosen over the spell stuns in the list (OGN-050 Rune Prison, SFD-040 Thwonk!, UNL-134 Existential Dread) because the Shrine needs a KILL as well as a stun, and she is the only partner that supplies the stun for free on the same attack that supplies the damage.
