Sona, Harmonious readies runes at end of turn — Viktor makes Recruits on the opponent's turn
Pieces
- Sona, Harmonious ×1
OGN-073 · engine · calm
At the end of your turn, if I'm at a battlefield, ready up to 4 friendly runes.
- Viktor, Innovator ×1
OGN-117 · payoff · mind
When you play a card on an opponent's turn, play a 1 Might Recruit unit token in your base.
Payoff
Deck
- Legend domains cover Calm and Mind.
Prerequisites
- Sona must be at a battlefield when your turn ends; the four runes fund Reactions (Premonition, Consult the Past, Counter Strike) during the opponent's turn.
- Sona has to survive on a battlefield at 4 Might for the readies to happen at all. Chemtech Cask's Gold enters exhausted and cannot be spent until your next Awaken.
- Every rule this entry cites was checked verbatim on 2026-09-04 and holds: 164.2.a ("[E]: [Reaction] - Add [1]") and 164.2.b give rune abilities Reaction, 813.1.c.2 lets Reaction activated abilities fire "during Closed States on any player's turn", 143.4 makes the Recruits enter exhausted, and 811.6 grants Reaction to a card played from facedown.
- CONSTRAINT 811.1.b hands over that the entry omitted: the rule reads "...you may pay [A] to hide this facedown... BEGINNING ON THE NEXT TURN, this gains [Reaction] and you may play this, ignoring its base cost." So the free flips are free only if the hiding happened on an earlier turn, and note it is the BASE cost that is ignored, not additional costs.
- 323.7 — THE FREE FLIPS COST A CARD IF THE BATTLEFIELD GOES. This engine's cheapest Viktor triggers are cards flipped from Hidden on the opponent's turn, and a hidden card only survives while you control the battlefield it sits on: 323.7 removes Hidden cards from battlefields "not controlled by the same player" and places them "in their owner's Trash", and 466.5.c does the same the instant Control is established. A battlefield lost between hiding and flipping does not delay the trigger, it eats the card.
- TARGON'S PEAK IS ONE EVENT, NOT A SECOND FAUCET. OGN-289 Targon's Peak ('When you conquer here, ready up to 2 runes at the end of this turn') is the pool's only other battlefield-side rune ready and it lands in the same window Sona uses, so a conquer turn runs six ready runes instead of four. But it does NOT repeat while you keep the battlefield: 469.1 defines Conquer as gaining Control of a Battlefield 'they did not yet Score this turn' and 466.5 only Establishes Control 'if they didn't already control this Battlefield'. It is +2 on the turn you take it and again only if it changes hands. It also costs the battlefield slot (485.4.a, 1 of 3 at random in Duel by 485.5), which in Calm/Mind competes with every other battlefield you might want, and the whole engine is capped above by the Rune Deck anyway: 161.2.a, 'Exactly 12 Rune cards chosen during Deck Construction.'
Steps
- End of your turn with Sona at a battlefield: ready up to 4 runes.
- On the opponent's turn, spend them on Reactions: rune abilities carry [Reaction] (164.2.a/b) and Reaction activated abilities work on any player's turn (813.1.c.2). Each card you play is a Recruit from Viktor — the Recruits enter exhausted (143.4), so they are bodies for your next turn.
- Cards played from Hidden are free (811.1.b) and Reaction-speed (811.6), so each hidden card you flip on the opponent's turn is a Viktor trigger that costs no runes at all.
How it ends
engine only — four Energy of Reactions per opponent turn, so at most four Recruits and realistically one or two; the Recruits arrive exhausted

Bounded per turn by four runes and by the Reactions in hand. Targon's Peak (OGN-289) stacks: it readies up to 2 more at the end of a turn in which you conquered there, for up to six — but only ON A CONQUER, which is the cap this sentence omitted until 2026-09-06; see the correction at the end of this note and the notable that now carries it. Dark Child (OGS-017) is not an alternative here — it is a Fury/Chaos legend and cannot legally run Sona (Calm) or Viktor (Mind). Card text verified against the corpus. REFUTE 2 (2026-09-03): SURVIVES with corrections — the off-turn rune spend is legal; the entry cited the VEN-SP2 reprint instead of the base code OGN-073, the Dark Child alternative was domain-illegal and the Cask's Gold is exhausted on arrival. HAND-WALKED 2026-09-04 (docs/phase0/walks/2026-09-04-four-engines.md), promoted to verified. Depends on no unruled reading. CORRECTED 2026-09-06 by the ready-lens walk (docs/phase0/walks/2026-09-06-ready-lens-candidates.md), issue #56. The old note said 'Targon's Peak (OGN-289) stacks: it readies up to 2 more at the end of a turn in which you conquered there, for up to six' and omitted the cap. It does stack, but only on a conquer, and 466.5 plus 469.1 mean there is no conquer while you already control the battlefield. #56 proposed the pair as a standalone ENGINE entry; it was REFUTED for exactly that reason — one event is not a motor, and a class that does not match the formula is the defect the 2026-09-04 BURST audit punished. The fact is applied here instead. Class, uses, quantities and steps are UNCHANGED.
