Deck
- Legend's Domain Identity includes Chaos (103.1.b.3); the Plaza is Colorless and fits any deck.
- Seven Spiderlings alive at the Plaza when your Beginning Phase starts.
Prerequisites
- Battlefield entries: a player provides three battlefields and only one is used (485.4.a) — randomly in Duel (485.5) and Skirmish (487.5), chosen in Match (486.5) — and 103.4.c plus Tournament Rules 402.1 forbid bringing two of the same name, so there is no way to raise the odds.
- A battlefield you provide starts UNCONTROLLED (190.1) and 190.6.d switches its text off while it has no Controller: "If the battlefield has no Controller, 'you' refers to no one, and all such instructions are ignored." Walking a body there and establishing Control (466.5) is part of this entry's cost, and 811.1.b only lets you hide at a battlefield you control. You have to conquer the Plaza before a Spiderling can even be hidden there.
- THE SEVEN ARE COUNTED AT THE INSTANT OF THE HOLD. 383.2.a.1: 'Any additional conditional statement immediately after the Condition must be true in order for the Condition to be fulfilled. Such a conditional statement is part of the Trigger Condition and not the Effect.' The Plaza's 'if you have 7+ units here' sits immediately after 'When you hold here', and 383.2.c evaluates the Condition 'after a potentially inciting event has been processed' — so the seven bodies must already be there when the Hold (469.2) happens, not afterwards.
- THAT IS WHY THIS ROUTE IS DIFFERENT FROM THE [Temporary] ONES. leblanc-temporary-plaza reaches seven with Keeper of Masks, but those bodies are [Temporary] and 816.1.b kills them at the start of your Beginning Phase, which is why that entry needs UNL-090 LeBlanc, Everywhere at Once to switch the kill off (R10 = A) and why its Reflections sit at 0 Might (R27). Spiderlings are not [Temporary], need no keyword suppressed, and stand at 7 Might each.
- COST OF ADMISSION: 7 × 3 Energy = 21 Energy spread over several turns, and seven slots in a Main Deck of at least 40 cards (103.2) — about 17.5% of the deck. This is a deck, not a tech package.
- [Hidden] pays for one of them a turn: 811.1.b makes the flip free from the next turn on, and 811.1.d.1 sends the hidden permanent to the battlefield it was hidden at, i.e. the Plaza. The rest are played normally, since 355.2.a makes a battlefield you control a default valid location for units.
- 323.7 IS THE REAL PRICE OF HIDING. A Cleanup step 5 reads "Remove all Hidden cards from all Battlefields that are not controlled by the same player and place them in their owner's Trash", and 466.5.c repeats it the instant somebody establishes Control. Losing the battlefield does not put the hidden card on hold — it TRASHES it. Lose the Plaza and the Spiderling waiting facedown there is gone, not merely stranded.
- The Plaza and OGN-278 Bandle Tree are both battlefields of yours, so 485.4.a keeps them off the same board: this entry and black-market-broker-bandle-tree-gold are alternatives, never a package.
- Seven Spiderlings at 7 Might each survive damage well; they do not survive bounce or a board sweep, and the opponent gets turns in between.
- THE CHEAPEST ANSWER IS A SINGLE KILL, NOT A SWEEPER, AND OGN-133 FLURRY OF BLADES DOES NOT TOUCH THIS LINE. Spiderling reads "I have +1 :rb_might: for each other unit you control here with my name", so the seven bodies The Grand Plaza requires are Might 7 each and 1 damage kills none of them - 143.2.a kills on marked damage at or above Might and 142.4.b defines Lethal Damage as "a non-zero amount greater than or equal to that Unit's Might". What answers it instead is ONE removal spell, because the Plaza reads "if you have 7+ units here" and this board is exactly seven: OGN-229 Vengeance (Order, 4 Energy + 2 Power, "Kill a unit.") is the pool's only single-target kill with neither a location clause nor any other gate. The mass answers that reach Might 7 are far dearer - OGN-123 Unchecked Power (Mind, 7 Energy + 2 Power, 12 damage) and UNL-180 The Ruination (Order, 9 Energy + 3 Power); OGN-159 Warwick, Hunter kills only units already DAMAGED and only on an attack, so it is not one. AND THE LINE'S OWN ANSWER IS UNIQUE IN THE POOL: swept over every card, Spiderling is the ONLY one that overrides 103.2.b's "up to 3 copies of the same named card", printing "Your deck can have any number of cards named Spiderling" - so going to eight or more both gives the Plaza slack against one removal AND raises every body's Might again. WHEN THE ANSWER LANDS, AND IT IS NOT INSIDE THE HOLD. A Hold resolves at 315.2.b.2, which Holds "all Battlefields they Control", inside YOUR Beginning Phase - and 312.2.a gives a player priority only "When the turn is in a Neutral Open State during their Main Phase", i.e. their own. So the opponent cannot answer in the Hold window itself; they answer on THEIR turn, which is the turn immediately before it. The cost of that is yours, not theirs: your own Main Phase comes AFTER your Beginning Phase (315 then 316), so there is no window in which to rebuild the garrison. Holding up a [Reaction] on their turn is the only response this line has.
- OPPONENT BOARD AND KILL PRICE - ADDED 2026-10-27 (#503). THE BOARD IT WINS ON: nothing of theirs ready in their base on the turn between the seventh Spiderling and the Hold with a summed Might of 7 (units at their own battlefield cannot reach the Plaza, 144.4.a, 144.4.b; units they play that turn enter exhausted, 143.4), and no one-card kill. The line's own steps commit to exactly N = 7, each Spiderling at 1 + 6 = 7 Might, and none has [Tank] or [Backline], so nothing orders the assignment (465.2.c.6). Killing N - 6 = 1 unit costs 7 damage, lethal on one Spiderling (465.2.c.3, 142.4.b), so one ready enemy body of Might 7 or more, or bodies whose summed Might is 7, leaves six and the Hold does not win: the price is 7, not the 49 of a full clear.
Steps
- Conquer The Grand Plaza (190.1: control is established through play; until then its text is ignored, 190.6.d).
- Play Spiderlings to the Plaza across several turns — 355.2.a makes it a default valid location — and hide one per turn for a free flip later (811.1.b, 811.1.d.1).
- Reach seven units at the Plaza. Each Spiderling is now 1 + 6 = 7 Might, 49 Might in total.
- Survive to your Beginning Phase still holding the Plaza.
- The Hold (469.2) fires the Plaza's trigger; 383.2.a.1 checks '7+ units here' as part of the Condition, at that instant — they are there — and you win the game (195).
How it ends
you win the game on the Hold, the moment seven units are standing at The Grand Plaza when your Beginning Phase starts
