Payoff
Deck
- Legend domains must cover Calm and Chaos — OGN-259 Unforgiven, SFD-195 Blade Dancer, UNL-193 Gloomist. Unforgiven is also the mover, which is why it is the natural shell.
Prerequisites
- EIGHT DISCARDS A MOVE IS THE LARGEST REPEATABLE DISCARD OUTLET IN THE POOL, and #95's audit of the lens found that none of its 31 outlets was 'free and repeatable within a turn'. This one is, at the price of a card drawn back each time — so it is a filter and a trash-filler, not card advantage.
- IT IS ALSO EIGHT DRAWS, WHICH IS THE OPPOSITE OF svellsongur-apprentice-smith-gear-dig. 431.1.a: drawing in excess of the Main Deck is a Burn Out, 194.1.d gives the opponent a point, and 431.2.b then recycles your whole trash back into the deck — erasing everything the discards put there. Eight a move against a 39-card deck (103.2 with 103.2.a.1 removing the Chosen Champion) is roughly four moves. This engine is a sprint and the entry says so.
- The discard is what it is FOR. 422.1.b makes a 'When I am discarded' ability execute AFTER the discard, i.e. from the trash, and 385.1 / 385.2 let a Triggered Ability outside the board self-describe its context — which is why OGN-006 Flame Chompers ('When you discard me, you may pay 1 Fury: play me') is a whole synergy rule of its own, and why every '[Flow]' spell (829.1.b) and every 'return a unit from your trash' body wants this. The order inside each instance is fixed by the card: discard first, then draw, so a card drawn by instance k can be discarded by instance k+1.
- It does NOT compose with a Flame Chompers shell, and the reason is Domain Identity rather than timing: Flame Chompers is Fury, this pair is Calm and Chaos, and 103.1.b is a subset test against the legend's two domains. The on-identity payoffs are the Chaos half of the trash lens — VEN-165 Shadow Temple is colourless and stacks with it, but see shadow-temple-sentinel-burn for the same fuse.
- Two moves a turn with Unforgiven ('2 Energy, exhaust: Move a friendly unit to or from its base') is sixteen discard-and-draws, which empties a 39-card deck in two and a half turns. One move a turn is the sustainable setting.
- A 2-Might body at M+0 (137.3) living at its base, with 137.3.a detaching all three gears when it dies. Cost, counted whole: the Merchant 2 Energy; each Svellsongur 3 Energy + 1 Calm Power to play PLUS 1 Energy + 1 Calm Power to [Equip]. 14 Energy and 6 Calm Power.
Steps
- Play Traveling Merchant (2 Energy) and attach Svellsongur A, B and C to it in that order: 2, then 4, then 8 instances of 'When I move, discard 1, then draw 1'.
- Main Phase: standard-move it between its base and a battlefield you control (144.1.a, 144.2, 144.4.a).
- Eight instances resolve one at a time, each discarding a card and then drawing one. Count the Main Deck as you go.
- Spend the trash the same turn — 431.2.b will recycle all of it back into the deck the moment a draw runs the deck out, and 194.1.d gives the opponent a point for it.
- Repeat next turn, or stop: with one move a turn a 39-card deck lasts about four turns, with two moves about two and a half.
Per iteration
8 cards from hand to trash and 8 cards drawn per move, at 8 cards of Main Deck
How it ends

AUTHORED 2026-09-06 from issue #160. OGN-185 was an uncatalogued partner of svellsongur-copy and of three move rules. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt; 103.1.b, 103.2, 103.2.a.1, 137.3, 137.3.a, 144.1.a, 144.2, 144.4.a, 194.1.d, 385.1, 385.2, 422.1.b, 431.1.a, 431.2.b, 434.1.c, 476.1, 477.2.c, 479.1, 480.3 and 829.1.b opened in the Core Rules file. Stands on R6 = A and R9; no new reading. Deliberately authored beside svellsongur-apprentice-smith-gear-dig as its mirror: the Smith REVEALS (431.1.c, no Burn Out at any deck size) and the Merchant DRAWS (431.1.a, a hard clock), on the same body count and the same price. Trap check: no attack; no token; nothing recycled as a cost; no [Temporary]; no [Repeat]; a Move is not a Recall (455); the [Equip] costs are counted.
