Combo · ENGINE
Trevor Snoozebottom into the Altar — a card a turn out of a Sprite that dies on schedule
Pieces
- Trevor Snoozebottom ×1
UNL-048 · engine · calm
[Shield] (+1 Might while I'm a defender.) When I hold, play a ready 3 Might Sprite unit token with [Temporary] here. (Kill it at the start of its controller's next Beginning Phase, before scoring.)
- Altar of Memories ×1
SFD-169 · payoff · order
When a friendly unit dies, you may exhaust me to draw 1, then put a card from your hand on the top or bottom of your Main Deck.
Payoff
Deck
- Calm + Order: OGN-261 Radiant Dawn, UNL-195 Green Father, VEN-147 Eye of Twilight and SFD-247 Emperor of the Sands all hold both (103.1.b.2).
- You must be Holding a battlefield each turn — 469.2 defines Hold on a battlefield the player CONTROLS, so an opponent who walls you off switches the whole line off.
Prerequisites
- The timing IS the finding, and it needs 315 read in order. Awaken (315.1) is NOT part of the Beginning Phase (315.2): it is the step before it, and 315.1.b readies 'all Game Objects they control that are able to be readied'. 816.1.b then fires the [Temporary] kill 'At the start of this permanent's controller's Beginning Phase, before scoring' — 315.2.a — with the Altar already ready, and 315.2.b.2 Holds the battlefields after that. So the Altar is available every single turn and Trevor mints the replacement Sprite in the same phase.
- Net neutral on deck size: the draw and the card put back on top or bottom are one trigger, so 431.1.a never bites and this is one of the few draw engines that does not walk a deck toward Burn Out.
- The Sprite is a 3 Might body with a full turn of life — born in one Scoring Step, killed in the next — so it defends the battlefield Trevor holds for the opponent's whole turn.
- 185 / 186.1: the Sprite is a token and never reaches the trash, so nothing in this line can recycle or reanimate it, and none of it tries to.
Steps
- Get Trevor to a battlefield you control and the Altar of Memories on the board. Setup is E3 + E2, paid once.
- Scoring Step (315.2.b.2): you Hold. Trevor's trigger plays a ready 3 Might Sprite with [Temporary] at that battlefield.
- The Sprite defends through the opponent's turn.
- Your Awaken (315.1.b) readies the Altar.
- Your Beginning Step (315.2.a): 816.1.b kills the Sprite before scoring. 'A friendly unit dies' fires — exhaust the Altar, draw 1, put a card from hand on the top or bottom of the Main Deck.
- The same turn's Scoring Step Holds again and mints the next Sprite. Repeat every turn at zero further cost.
How it ends
engine only — one card drawn and one card filtered onto the top or bottom of the deck every turn, for free after E5 of setup, plus a 3 Might defender that renews itself. Nothing here scores.

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-06 (docs/phase0/walks/2026-09-06-orphan-synergy-rules.md §4), issue #153, from the orphan rule shadow-watcher-temporary-death-window. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Citations opened: 103.1.b.2, 185, 186.1, 315.1, 315.1.b, 315.2.a, 315.2.a.1, 315.2.b.2, 431.1.a, 469.2, 816.1.b, 816.1.c. Deliberately NOT written: Trevor beside UNL-174 Shard of Undoing, which would be a third copy of sprite-fountain-shard-undoing-beginning-removal and shard-undoing-deceiver-reflection-removal — those two already occupy the [Temporary]-death-forces-a-kill slot with two different feeds. Trap check: no attack; no [Repeat]; the token is never recycled or reanimated (185 / 186.1); no recall, so 455 and 808.1.d.1 do not bite — and note that the Sprite's death is the POINT here, so a heal/exhaust/recall shield on it would switch the engine off rather than protect it; 167 is not touched. Depends on no unruled reading.
