Payoff
Deck
- Body/Fury. Trinity Force and Determined Sentry are mono-Body, Skyfall of Areion is mono-Fury and the Arena is colourless, so the union is exactly two domains (103.1.b). Measured over data/cards.json, the pool prints four Body/Fury legend NAMES and any of them holds the deck: Relentless Storm (OGN-249, OGN-300), Purifier (SFD-183, SFD-241), Pridestalker (UNL-183, UNL-227) and Butcher of the Sands (VEN-141, VEN-190).
- None of the four cards is banned or restricted in either format - checked against data/legality.json, which has no row touching SFD-115, SFD-030, OGN-286 or UNL-111.
- The Arena is a battlefield you PROVIDE, so it is a 1-in-3: 485.4.a has each player provide three of which one is used, 485.5 makes the selection random, and 103.4.c with Tournament Rules 402.1 forbid three copies of one name.
Prerequisites
- THIS ENTRY IS A REFUSAL REOPENED, AND THE REFUSAL'S ARITHMETIC WAS RIGHT. The 2026-09-06 finisher-feeders walk recorded: 'Trinity Force + Skyfall + Reckoner's Arena ... 1 + 3 x 2 = 7. One short of 8, and 103.2.b caps Trinity Force at three copies. Adding OGN-066 Ahri would fix it and is Calm - three domains.' Seven is correct. What the walk never did was look at the OTHER battlefield: it searched for an eighth point AT THE ARENA, found the only candidate was out of domain, and stopped. A Duel has two battlefields (485.4), and walking a spare body into the second one Conquers it for the eighth.
- THE CLAUSE THAT MAKES THE EIGHTH POINT SAFE IS THE ONE THAT USUALLY KILLS A LINE AT SEVEN. 471.1.b governs a player who 'tries to Gain a Point through a Conquer' while 'their current Point Total is 1 point from the Victory Score of the Mode of Play or higher' - which is exactly the position at seven - and 471.1.b.1 gives the Final Point only 'If the player has Scored every Battlefield this turn', handing them a card otherwise. Here BOTH battlefields are Scored this turn: the Hold Scores the Arena (469.2, 470) and this Conquer Scores the other. The catalogue already holds this reading in a verified entry - swain-double-conquer says in its own words 'Second Conquer's own point is safe at 7 because both battlefields were scored this turn (471.1.b.1)' - so nothing here is new law, only newly applied.
- THE GENERAL FORM, WHICH IS WORTH MORE THAN THIS LINE. A Hold-based seven at ONE battlefield in a Duel is an eight, because Holding one battlefield and Conquering the other IS Scoring every battlefield. The refusal shape to distrust is a walk that searches for its eighth point inside the same scoring event it built - 'one short' is a claim about that event, not about the turn. Check the second battlefield before refusing.
- THE ARITHMETIC, AGAINST THE QUANTITIES THIS ENTRY DECLARES. Beginning Phase, the Arena held with the carrier standing there: 315.2.b.2 Holds every battlefield you control and 471.1 Gains 1 for the Hold itself; the three Trinity Force hold effects Gain 3 (383.4.d.2.a); and the Arena activates the same three, now conquer effects by Skyfall, for 3 more (383.4.g.1 places each 'on the chain as if it had just triggered'). SEVEN. Main Phase: the second Determined Sentry walks into the other battlefield and Conquers it for the eighth. Two scoring events in one turn with no opponent turn in between, which is a CHAIN and not a BURST.
- IT IS CHEAPER THAN ITS SIBLING AND WANTS THE OPPOSITE BOARD, WHICH IS WHY BOTH ARE KEPT. brambleback-trinity-skyfall-conquer is the same Trinity Force and Skyfall package under UNL-029 Red Brambleback instead of the Arena: it is a CONQUER line at E24 + 3 Body + 3 Fury, and it needs a battlefield to take. This one is E18 + 3 Body + 1 Fury - two Determined Sentry at E1 each are its whole non-gear cost - and it needs a battlefield you ALREADY HOLD plus a second one to walk into. Neither dominates: the Brambleback line pays on a board where you are taking ground, this one on a board where you are keeping it.
- THE SECOND BATTLEFIELD HAS TO BE TAKEABLE, AND THAT IS THE HONEST LIMIT. If it is open - 170.11.c makes a battlefield open when it is 'unoccupied and uncontrolled' - 344.2 opens a Showdown at the next Cleanup with no combat and no damage, and 348.2.a with 348.2.a.1 gives Control and a Conquer. If the opponent garrisons it, a Might 1 Determined Sentry wins nothing and the eighth point needs a real attacker or a removal spell; 465.2.c has each side assign its summed Might. The line does not claim to beat a defended board with two 1-Might bodies.
- NOTHING HERE PROTECTS THE GEAR, AND FOUR EQUIPMENT SIT ON ONE 1-MIGHT BODY. 718.5.b: 'Attached cards still can be chosen or targeted by game effects while Attached.' Six of the seven points ride on that carrier, and the pool's 16 gear kills span all six domains; at three or more copies the headline answer is OGN-022 Thermo Beam (Fury, E5 + 2 Fury Power, '[Action] (Play on your turn or in showdowns.) Kill all gear.'), which takes the whole payoff with one card. The carrier itself is a Might 1 body, so OGN-133 Flurry of Blades (Body, E1, [Reaction], 'Deal 1 to all units at battlefields') kills it and 719.5 detaches everything - the cheapest answer in the pool to this line is one Energy. A second cheap carrier of 2 or more Might is the fix and costs nothing but a deck slot.
- NO KILL REACHES THE HOLD WINDOW, BUT A DETACH DOES. The seven land at 315.2.b.2 inside your own Beginning Phase, where 312.2.a gives the opponent no priority in a Neutral Open State and 813.1.c.1 admits only a [Reaction] in the Closed State the trigger opens - and no gear KILL in the pool carries [Reaction], so every one must be cast a full turn early. SFD-011 Angle Shot is the exception in the other family: Fury, 2 Energy, [Reaction], 'Choose a unit and an Equipment with the same controller. Attach that Equipment to that unit or detach that Equipment from that unit. Draw 1.' - and the same controller need not be you. 719.1 appends Effect Text only 'for as long as they remain Attached', so one Angle Shot strips one Trinity Force. Whether a detach inside the Hold window itself accomplishes anything is UNWALKED - 383.2.a.1 measures a Trigger Condition when the trigger is PLACED - so the honest statement is that Angle Shot answers this line on the turn BEFORE it pays, like the kills, and nobody should assume more.
- A BLOODLESS CONQUER IS NOT A FAIT ACCOMPLI, AND 46 OF THE 47 ENTRIES CITING 344.2 DID NOT SAY SO (added 2026-09-12, #187 batch 25). **316.8.b.1.a**: during a Non-Combat Showdown *"units controlled by a different player may become present at the Battlefield where the Showdown is"*, which converts it to a COMBAT Showdown in the following cleanup - so the opponent can turn your uncontested walk-in into a fight. 316.8.c is the permission (a Showdown is a Window of Opportunity for [Action] and [Reaction] cards). **The answer set is THREE CARDS, swept on the ACTOR rather than on the destination**: `OGN-173 Ride the Wind` (Chaos, E2+1), `OGN-262 Zenith Blade` (Calm/Order, E3+2) and `SFD-184 Relentless Pursuit` (Fury/Body, E2+1) - twelve printings move a friendly unit, and nine of them send it to base or need a body already there. They span three identities, so **no identity is safe**; and `OGN-262 Zenith Blade` is the worst to walk into, because it STUNS your body on the way in, and 423.1.b removes a stunned unit`s contribution to the damage step while 423.1.c keeps its full Might as the price to kill it - one 3-Energy card takes the unit and the battlefield. **[Ambush] is not a fourth answer**: 822.1.b needs a battlefield where the player already has units, and the defining feature of that board is that they have none there. **THE REMEDY IS A COUNTERSPELL, AND A FIRST VERSION OF THIS NOTABLE SAID SOMETHING FALSE THAT IS WITHDRAWN HERE (corrected within the hour, 2026-09-12).** It said that because all three answers are [Action] and 358.4 admits an Action card only as the card that CLOSES the state, the attacker - who holds Focus by 345 and priority by 335.1 - could shut them out by playing any cheap Action card first. Every step is true and the conclusion is false, because **a Showdown is a LOOP, not a single window**: 346 - *"When the last item on the chain resolves and the turn returns to an Open State during a Showdown, Focus passes, and the next Player gains both Focus and Priority"* - with 347.1.b and 347.2.a. Closing the state buys a lock-out lasting exactly that CHAIN; when it resolves the Showdown reopens, Focus passes TO THE DEFENDER, and they play their answer into an open Showdown after all. **The real sequence**: walk in, take Focus, **PASS** (acting first gains nothing); they play the answer, which closes the state as it is played; **you COUNTER it**, since 358.4`s other half now admits only [Reaction] and all eleven of the pool`s counters are Reaction, and 425.1.c refunds them nothing; all players then pass in sequence, 347.2.a ends the Showdown, and 348.2.a with 348.2.a.1 give you Control and the Conquer. The cheap counter is `OGN-045 Defy` (Calm, E1 + 1 Power, *"counter a spell that costs no more than 4 Energy and no more than one rainbow"*), which covers all three answers; `OGN-064 Wind Wall` is the unconditional one. **So the protection narrows to pairs containing CALM** - it is not the one-Energy insurance any deck can buy.
Steps
- Board before the turn: you control the Reckoner's Arena with a Determined Sentry standing on it, carrying three Trinity Force and one Skyfall of Areion; a second Determined Sentry sits at your base; the other battlefield is open or lightly held. Score 0.
- Beginning Phase, Scoring Step. 315.2.b.2 Holds every battlefield you control, so the Arena Holds and 471.1 Gains 1 point, which 470 caps at one Score per battlefield per turn.
- The carrier's three appended Trinity Force abilities - 'When I hold, score 1 point', made the carrier's own by 434.1.c and 136.2.d - Gain 3 more. Running total 4.
- Skyfall of Areion has made each of those hold effects a conquer effect as well, so the Arena's own trigger reaches them: 383.4.g.1, 'To do so, that player checks the condition of all of the specified effects, as if they had fulfilled the named part of the condition', and each is placed 'on the chain as if it had just triggered'. 3 more. SEVEN.
- Main Phase. Standard-move the second Determined Sentry from your base into the other battlefield (144.4, 144.2 paying its exhaust). Against an open battlefield 344.2 opens a Showdown at the next Cleanup with no units of opposing players present, and 348.2.a establishes Control at its close with 348.2.a.1 making it a Conquer.
- That Conquer is the eighth point, and it is the Final Point. 471.1.b.1 gives it because you have Scored every Battlefield this turn - the Arena by the Hold, this one by the Conquer. 194.2 awards the game in the next cleanup to a player with 'points greater than or equal to the Victory Score and more points than any other player'.
Per iteration
+8 points in one turn across two scoring events - seven in the Beginning Phase off one Hold, the eighth off a Conquer at the other battlefield - for E18, 3 Body Power and 1 Fury Power
How it ends
chain of eight points in one turn across a Hold and a Conquer with no opponent turn in between; the seven need a battlefield you already control and the eighth needs the second battlefield to be takeable
