Payoff
Deck
- Calm + Order. Computed over the 94 legend base codes in cards.json: OGN-261 / OGN-306 Radiant Dawn (Leona), SFD-197 / SFD-247 Emperor of the Sands (Azir), UNL-195 / UNL-233 Green Father (Ivern), VEN-147 / VEN-193 Eye of Twilight (Shen). Nothing here is Signature, so all four names are open (103.2.d.2).
- A second friendly unit anywhere for the Signpost to exhaust as its cost. Any body will do, including one already exhausted for something else.
Prerequisites
- WHAT IS ACTUALLY NEW: THE UNDERTITAN COMES TO HAND. The four catalogued Undertitan routes all reveal it and then let it go — Rek'Sai, Swarm Queen 'Recycle the rest', Teemo, Strategist 'then recycle the revealed cards', Diana's Predict, Void Rush's banish-and-play. Pakaa Protector's branch is 'If it's a unit, DRAW IT', and an Undertitan is a unit — so the same event pays the 2 Energy (424.1 makes the reveal a public presentation, and the card's trigger names no source) AND puts a 5-Might body in your hand. That is a different payout from every other row of this rule's list, which is why it is an entry and not a note.
- THE MISS IS NOT A MISS. Reveal a non-unit and Pakaa puts it in your trash and takes +2 Might this turn. So the engine has no blank face: a unit is card advantage, anything else is a filtered mill plus a bigger body. The Undertitan is the jackpot, not the premise — and this entry says so rather than pricing itself on the jackpot: with three copies in a 39-card deck (103.2 counts the Chosen Champion inside the 40 and 103.2.a.1 sets it aside before play), each reveal hits an Undertitan about one time in thirteen.
- TWO REVEALS A TURN, AND WHY IT IS EXACTLY TWO. Pakaa's own Standard Move is one (144.4.a with 144.2's exhaust as the cost). Forgotten Signpost is the second: its cost is exhausting ANOTHER unit you control plus its own exhaust, so it fires once per turn (415.1 with 315.1.b readying it in your Awakening), and the unit it moves is not exhausted by the move — 420.3.a puts the exhaust on the Standard Move only, and 810.1.c.3 confirms the general point that a keyword or effect move is not the Standard Move. Nothing else in the pool refills the Signpost within a turn.
- NO BURN OUT, EITHER WAY. 431.1.c: 'If an instruction directs a player to look at or reveal cards in excess to the number of cards in a player's Main Deck, that player looks at or Reveals as many as possible, but does not Burn Out.' The reveal half is free. The DRAW half is not — 431.1.a burns you out on an empty deck — but this engine draws only when it reveals a unit, so it never draws more than it reveals.
- THE SIGNPOST'S GEOMETRY. It moves 'a different unit you control to the location of the unit you exhausted to pay for this ability', so the destination is wherever the paying body already stands: base to battlefield, battlefield to base, or battlefield to battlefield with no [Ganking] needed. Pakaa's move trigger reads 'When I move' and 420.1 / 420.2.a make an effect move a Move, so the Signpost's move counts.
- COST. Pakaa E5, Signpost E2, and each Undertitan E6 + 1 Order Power if you choose to cast it — but the 2 Energy is banked whether you cast it or not, and 167 empties the Rune Pool at the start of your Main Phase, so the Add is worth having only inside the same Main Phase it arrives in.
- WHAT REFUTES IT. (a) The Add is Energy, not Power, and 167 kills it at the next Main Phase start — a reveal on the opponent's turn banks nothing. (b) Pakaa is M4 and the +2 lasts only 'this turn'. (c) If the top card is a unit you did not want, you draw it anyway: 'If it's a unit, draw it' has no 'may'.
- CITATION UPGRADE (2026-09-09): 369.1 is the paragraph that makes Undertitan’s “As I’m revealed” a Replacement Effect rather than a trigger, and Riot names the card in the example - which is why the reveal and the Add are one event and nothing can respond between them.
- 370.1.b.1 NAMES THIS CARD IN ITS OWN WORKED EXAMPLE AND WAS UNCITED HERE (upgrade 2026-09-12; a debt two separate lanes flagged). An *"as you look at or reveal me"* clause is a REPLACEMENT EFFECT, not a Triggered Ability: 370.1.b.1 - *"In the case of Replacement Effects that describe a game action to occur `as` an event occurs, the described event is replaced by that same event plus the game action being performed"* - and 371.2 is what makes its *"you may"* legal. Three consequences a trigger would not buy: there is **no Chain Item**, so no window exists between the look and the body arriving; it is **immune to every trigger multiplier in the pool** (`OGN-236 Karthus` doubles Deathknells, `UNL-087 Blue Sentinel` and `UNL-029 Red Brambleback` double Hold and Conquer triggers, and none of them can see a replacement); and 431.1.c keeps the look itself free of Burn Out.
- WHY AN ABILITY ON A CARD NOBODY HAS PLAYED WORKS AT ALL, WHICH THIS FAMILY CITED FOR NEITHER (upgrade 2026-09-12, #187 batch 15). Every entry in the Undertitan/Nocturne family cites 370.1.b.1, which says what KIND of ability it is and nothing about why it is active in the Main Deck. Three paragraphs answer that: **365.1 is the DEFAULT that would kill the family** - *"Passive Abilities of Permanents are typically only active while on the Board"*; **366.1 is the OVERRIDE** - *"Passive Abilities of cards in zones that are outside of the Board will self-describe their context"* - which was cited by TWO entries out of 762, neither of them here; and **368.1** - *"Passive Abilities can be Replacement Effects"* - had ZERO citations anywhere and is the hinge, because it is what makes 366.1 rather than 385.1 the applicable block. This project carries 385.1 and 385.2, the TRIGGERED-outside-the-board pair, at 16 and 42 citations and had never had the passive counterpart, so a reader reaches for 385 and gets the wrong block. **424.1.a.2** completes it - cards remain in the zone they are being Revealed from, with Riot naming the top of the Main Deck - which is why the self-described context is satisfied at the instant the passive fires.
- 370.3 IS THE NARROWEST AND MOST ON-POINT PARAGRAPH FOR THIS CARD AND IT WAS MISSING FROM THE WHOLE FAMILY (self-audit upgrade 2026-09-12, #187 batch 20). The earlier pass prescribed 365.1, 366.1, 368.1 and 424.1.a.2, which are about PASSIVE ABILITIES IN GENERAL. **370.3 is about REPLACEMENT EFFECTS AND ZONES SPECIFICALLY**: *"If a Game Object has a Replacement Effect that is active in a specific zone, it is evaluated and subsequently applied if it enters that zone before an event occurs that it could replace."* Measured on 2026-09-12 it was cited by **exactly ONE entry in 762** and by none of this family. 366.1 says a passive outside the board self-describes its context; 370.3 says a replacement effect can be ACTIVE IN A ZONE and is applied if the object entered that zone first - and for a card sitting in the Main Deck since the game began that timing half is free, **which is exactly why it is easy to leave out** and why its worked example is the case where the half BITES.
Bodies no card supplies
Activate Forgotten Signpost: exhaust any other unit you control and exhaust the Signpost, and move Pakaa to that unit's location. She is not exhausted by this move (420.3.a)
Steps
- Earlier turns: play Pakaa Protector (E5) and Forgotten Signpost (E2). 143.4 exhausts the unit on arrival; gear enters ready.
- Main Phase. Standard-Move Pakaa base to battlefield (144.4.a; her exhaust is the cost, 144.2 / 420.3.a). Her trigger reveals the top card of your Main Deck.
- If it is a unit — an Undertitan among them — draw it, and the Undertitan's own 'As I'm revealed from your deck' trigger adds 2 Energy (424.1). If it is not a unit, it goes to your trash and Pakaa gets +2 Might this turn.
- Activate Forgotten Signpost: exhaust any other unit you control and exhaust the Signpost, and move Pakaa to that unit's location. She is not exhausted by this move (420.3.a).
- Her trigger fires again: a second reveal, a second chance at the 2 Energy and the card.
- Spend the banked Energy in the same Main Phase — 167 empties the Rune Pool at the start of your next one.
Per iteration
two filtered looks a turn that never blank: a unit drawn, or a card milled with +2 Might, and 2 free Energy every time an Undertitan is the card
How it ends
engine only — two reveals a turn, three Undertitans in the deck, and the Energy expires at the next Main Phase start (167); nothing here scores

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-07 (issue #170). It closes two orphan synergy rules at once: undertitan-reveal-payoff supplies the payoff and forgotten-signpost-carries-exhausted supplies the second move. VEN-033 Pakaa Protector was in zero entries. The claim that separates it from the four catalogued Undertitan routes was checked against those entries' own text rather than assumed: Rek'Sai's, Teemo's and Diana's all end in a recycle and Void Rush banishes-and-plays, while Pakaa's unit branch draws — counted as of 2026-09-07. The legend list was computed from cards.json (calm + order over the 94 legend base codes), not typed. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Citations opened and read: 103.2, 103.2.a.1, 103.2.d.2, 143.4, 144.2, 144.4.a, 167, 315.1.b, 415.1, 420.1, 420.2.a, 420.3.a, 424.1, 431.1.a, 431.1.c, 810.1.c.3. Ban check: SFD-175, VEN-033 and UNL-045 carry no [BANNED marker. Trap check: no Burn Out from the reveal (431.1.c) and the draw is bounded by the reveal; the Signpost's move is not a Standard Move so it costs the moved unit nothing (420.3.a); the Add is Energy and dies to 167; no token, no [Temporary], no [Repeat], no buff. Depends on no unruled reading.
