Combo · ENGINE
Masa stuns anywhere, so Vex teleports into the attack for free — and 190.3.a.1 makes her the Attacker with no exhaust paid
Pieces
- Vex, Mocking ×1
UNL-055 · payoff · calm
[Shield] (+1 Might while I'm a defender.) [Tank] (I must be assigned combat damage first.) When you [Stun] an enemy unit at a battlefield, you may move me to that battlefield.
- Masa, Crashing Thunder ×1
VEN-120 · engine · order
You may pay 1 Order Power as an additional cost to play me. When you play me, if you paid the additional cost, [Stun] an enemy unit at a battlefield. (It doesn't deal combat damage this turn.)
Payoff
Deck
- Calm + Order, so four legend names (103.1.b.2): Radiant Dawn (OGN-261), Emperor of the Sands (SFD-197), Green Father (UNL-195), Eye of Twilight (VEN-147).
- 1 Order Power spare when Masa is played, for the optional additional cost that carries the stun.
- Vex already on the board somewhere — her trigger relocates her, it does not deploy her.
Run play
Prerequisites
- THE MOVE IS FREE, AND THE RULE SAYS WHY. 420.3.a puts the cost of the Standard Move — 'Exhausting one or more Units' — on the Standard Move alone; Vex's relocation is an effect move, so nothing exhausts. 810.1.c.3 is the companion: '[Ganking] does not give additional abilities or activations of Movement, only new options for the Standard Move', which is why a move by effect never needed [Ganking] to go battlefield to battlefield in the first place.
- AND ARRIVING IS ATTACKING. 190.3.a.1: 'Units moving to or being played to a battlefield apply Contested status if that battlefield is not already Contested and that Unit's controller does not already control that battlefield', and 464.2.c.1 makes the Attacker 'the player whose unit(s) applied the Contested status'. So a 5-Might body enters an enemy battlefield as the Attacker on your turn without ever paying 144.2's exhaust — Masa's stun is the delivery mechanism.
- IF THE COMBAT IS ALREADY OPEN SHE STILL JOINS IT. 464.2.c.3.a: a unit that 'becomes present at this Battlefield after this moment... will gain the Attacker or Defender designation during the Cleanup phase following the action that caused it to become present'; 319.8 makes a Cleanup Outstanding 'After a Move is completed' and 323.2.a hands out the designation there. So the Cleanup runs before the damage step and she is in it.
- [TANK] IS THE REASON TO WANT HER THERE RATHER THAN A BIGGER BODY. 815.1.c.2: 'Units without Tank are invalid assignments until all units with Tank have lethal damage assigned to them.' Every other unit of yours at that battlefield is an illegal target for the opponent's assignment until Vex has taken lethal, so a garrison of small bodies survives behind her. Note the asymmetry with her [Shield]: 814.1.c is 'While I am a defender, I have +X [M]', so the +1 is worth nothing on the attack this entry sets up — she is a 5-Might Tank here, not a 6-Might one.
- The stunned defender pays twice: 423.1.b keeps its Might out of 465.2.c's damage assignment, and it is still in the way, so 465.2.c.3's lethal-first rule spends your damage on a body that cannot answer.
- Priced whole: 4 Energy + 1 Order Power puts a 4-Might body on the board, stuns a defender at a battlefield across the table, and relocates Vex into that battlefield as a free Attacker. Three copies of Masa (103.2.b) is three such arrivals a game; Vex is reusable every time anything of yours stuns.
Steps
- Have Vex, Mocking on the board — at your base or at another battlefield; the entry only needs her somewhere.
- Play Masa, Crashing Thunder (4 Energy) and pay the optional additional cost of 1 Order Power.
- His play trigger stuns an enemy unit at the battlefield you intend to take.
- Vex's trigger fires: move her to that battlefield. 420.3.a charges nothing, because this is not a Standard Move.
- 190.3.a.1 applies Contested and 464.2.c.1 makes you the Attacker; 464.2.c.3.a plus 319.8 and 323.2.a give her the designation at the Cleanup that follows the move.
- In the damage step, 423.1.b keeps the stunned defender's Might out of the assignment and 815.1.c.2 forces every point of theirs onto Vex before any other body of yours.
Per iteration
-4 Energy -1 Order Power, +1 body at 4 Might, one enemy defender muted, Vex relocated into the combat for free
How it ends
engine — a 4-Might body, a stun at any battlefield and a free 5-Might [Tank] attacker delivered there, for 4 Energy and 1 Power; nothing here scores

Both cards legal in both formats. Card set UNL-055 + VEN-120 is not an existing uses[] set. No unruled reading. The [Shield]-is-dead-on-offence note is stated because the card prints [Shield] and [Tank] side by side and only one of them is live in this line.
