Combo · ENGINE
A [Level] rung wants a faucet and NO sink — and Domain Identity is a PAIR, which is what gives the pool's death-to-XP faucet its one outlet
Pieces
- Vicious Snapjaws ×1
UNL-129 · engine · chaos
When another friendly unit dies, gain 1 XP.
- Scorchclaw ×1
UNL-016 · payoff · fury
[Hunt 2] (When I conquer or hold, gain 2 XP.) [Level 3][>] I have +1 Might and enter ready. (While you have 3+ XP, get the effect.)
Payoff
Deck
- Chaos + Fury, so five legend names (103.1.b.2): Loose Cannon (OGN-251), Dark Child - Starter (OGS-017), Glorious Executioner (SFD-185), Bloodharbor Ripper (UNL-185), Master of Shadows (VEN-143).
- A deck with NO XP sink in it at all — see the second notable; this is a deckbuilding constraint, not a board one.
Prerequisites
- DOMAIN IDENTITY IS A PAIR, AND THAT IS THE WHOLE REASON THIS PAIRING EXISTS. 103.1.b is a subset test against the legend's TWO domains, so a claim of the form 'domain X has no outlet for this' is not well formed. Swept over the corpus for `[Level`: mono-Chaos prints no [Level] card at all, and `UNL-016 Scorchclaw` is the ONLY one in Fury — so under any of the five Fury/Chaos legends, `UNL-129 Vicious Snapjaws` has exactly one outlet in the pool, and this is it.
- A [LEVEL] RUNG IS A THRESHOLD YOU HOLD, NOT A PRICE YOU PAY. 824.1.d: 'The Dependent Ability will be Inactive as soon as the controlling player has less than [N] XP', and 730.2: 'To Spend XP, reduce the value of XP marked on the Player spending it.' The XP is never consumed by the rung — it is consumed by YOU, and the moment it drops below 3 the +1 Might and the enter-ready go out. So the correct build for this pair runs a faucet and NOTHING that spends.
- WHICH MAKES ONE CARD IN THE SAME DOMAIN THE ANTI-SYNERGY, AND IT IS EASY TO PLAY BY ACCIDENT. `UNL-126 Megatusk` (Chaos, 'Spend 3 XP: Give your units here [Ganking] this turn') is the obvious thing to do with a growing XP pile, and using it once takes you from 3 to 0 and switches Scorchclaw's rung off — 824.1.d, not a cost on Scorchclaw's side at all. Every XP sink in the pool has this shape against every [Level] static.
- THE FAUCET RATE, MEASURED. 823.1.c.1: '[Hunt] is functionally short for "When I Conquer or Hold, my controller gains X XP."' 315.2.b.2 Holds EVERY battlefield you control and 485.4 puts two on a Duel table, so Scorchclaw's own [Hunt 2] is up to 4 XP a turn by himself; the Snapjaws adds 1 per friendly death, which combat supplies for free. Three XP arrives on the first scoring turn and never has to leave.
- AND THE PAYOFF IS HONESTLY SMALL. '+1 :rb_might:' is permanent while the rung is Active; 'enter ready' is a PLAY-TIME property and not a ready (415.1 marks a Game Object already on the Board), so it is worth one free arrival per copy of Scorchclaw played while you already hold 3 XP, and nothing at all to the copy already standing. The entry is an ENGINE ceiling and says so: nothing in the pool converts XP into points.
- 'When another friendly unit dies' IS NOT A [DEATHKNELL]. 808.1.c makes a Deathknell functionally short for 'When I die', and `OGN-236 Karthus, Eternal` doubles only those — so no trigger multiplier in the pool touches the Snapjaws. His rate is one XP per death, flat.
Steps
- Play Scorchclaw (3 Energy + 1 Fury Power) and Vicious Snapjaws (5 Energy).
- Take a battlefield, or hold one: [Hunt 2] pays 2 XP per scoring event (823.1.c.1), and 315.2.b.2 Holds every battlefield you control each Beginning Phase.
- Every friendly unit that dies — combat losses included — pays 1 more XP through the Snapjaws.
- At 3 XP Scorchclaw's [Level 3] rung goes Active: +1 Might, and any further copy of him enters ready.
- Spend nothing. 824.1.d switches the rung off the instant you drop below 3, and 730.2 is what a sink does to you.
Per iteration
1 XP per friendly death plus 2 per scoring event, against a threshold of 3 that is paid once and then held forever
How it ends
engine — XP accumulates without bound and buys exactly one thing in this identity, Scorchclaw's rung; nothing in the pool converts XP to points, so it never becomes a finisher

How this entry was audited
REFUTE = a refutation pass, with its date and verdict · WOUNDED = the pass found a flaw and the entry was rewritten · BUDGETED = the pass checked the recycle-and-draw ledger · lens = the hunt that proposed it.
UNL-129 Vicious Snapjaws and UNL-016 Scorchclaw were both in ZERO entries. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt; 103.1.b, 103.1.b.2, 315.2.b.2, 415.1, 485.4, 730.2, 808.1.c, 823.1.c.1, 824.1.d opened in the Core Rules file. The '[Level in Fury or Chaos' claim was swept over the whole corpus and returns exactly one row, UNL-016.
