Deck
- Wildclaw Shaman and Fae Dragon are mono-Body and Renata Glasc, Industrialist is mono-Order, so 103.1.b.1 needs a Body/Order legend, and the census gives five names: OGN-269 / OGN-310 The Boss, OGS-023 Might of Demacia - Starter, SFD-205 / SFD-251 Grand Duelist, UNL-203 / UNL-237 Keeper of the Hammer, VEN-153 / VEN-196 Matriarch of War. None of the three cards is Signature, so 103.2.d.2 imposes nothing.
Prerequisites
- THE BUFF LEDGER IS NET ZERO, WHICH IS THE POINT. 702.2.b removes one counter when Wildclaw Shaman's play effect spends it, and the same sentence places one back on himself. So the board finishes with the same number of Buff counters it started with, one of them relocated — and Fae Dragon has been paid for the spend.
- 702.3 IS WHY RELOCATION IS WORTH ANYTHING. 'There can only be one Buff on a Unit at a time', and 702.3.a: a Buff added to an already-buffed unit 'is not placed'. Fae Dragon's own play trigger buffs up to four bodies and can then never buff them again; Wildclaw Shaman is how a counter gets off a body that has stopped caring about it.
- THE READY IS THE OTHER HALF, AND IT IS AN [ACCELERATE] THE CARD DOES NOT PRINT. 143.4: 'Units enter the Board exhausted.' A body played to your base normally cannot pay 144.2's exhaust for a Standard Move until 315.1.b readies it next Awakening. Wildclaw Shaman readies himself as he lands, so he walks to a battlefield the same turn — the same delay that #48's token bottleneck is made of, paid off with a buff counter.
- THE SPEND IS AN EFFECT, NOT A COST, SO NOTHING HAS TO BE BANKED. The wording is 'you may spend a buff to buff me' — but read 205 against 383.3.b before pricing it: 383.3.b makes a cost at the start of a trigger's effect the trigger's BASE cost, while this is a play effect of a unit being played, not a Triggered Ability's opening cost. Either way the buff has to be on the board when the effect resolves, which Fae Dragon's play trigger guarantees a turn earlier.
- IF THERE IS NO BUFF TO SPEND, THE CARD IS A 4-ENERGY 3-MIGHT BODY. The 'you may' makes the whole clause optional, so it is never a dead card — but nothing happens: no Gold, no ready, and 702.3 leaves him unbuffed.
- WHAT A GOLD IS WORTH HERE. 187.5's ability has an exhaust in its cost, so without Renata Glasc, Industrialist the Gold is a rainbow Power on your NEXT turn; with her it is a rainbow Power in this Main Phase, which is what turns a body played for tempo into a body that partly pays for itself.
- THE CEILING IS THE DECK, NOT THE BOARD. 103.2.b allows three Wildclaw Shamans and each is consumed on play, so this is three launderings a game; Fae Dragon's four counters are the supply and 702.3 is why they cannot be re-stocked onto the same bodies.
- 745.2 IS WHY AN UNQUALIFIED "SPEND A BUFF" CAN ONLY TAKE ONE OFF YOUR OWN BOARD, AND THE 741-749 BLOCK WAS CITED BY NOTHING (upgrade 2026-09-12, #191 batch 26 - diagnosed five days earlier by #187 batch 2 and never applied). The cards that print this cost say *"spend a buff"* with NO owner stated, and none of them has ever had to, because the rules say it: **745.2** - *"In order to spend a Counter, the spending player must control the Game Object the Counter is placed on."* It is the general form of the 702.2.b.2 this project cites fourteen times, and its neighbours finish the picture: **749** (*"Counters do not have a controller"*) and **748** (*"Game Objects that change zones to a non-board zone lose all of their Counters"*), which is the real rule behind buff recovery rather than the 702.x usually cited. Measured consequence from the same walk: a change of CONTROL is not a zone change, so **a buff survives a theft and becomes the thief`s to spend** - the exact complement of 718.5.f, under which an Equipment`s Control does NOT follow its carrier while a buff`s spendability DOES.
Steps
- Play Fae Dragon (E7 + 1 Body Power). Its play trigger buffs up to four friendly units — 702.3.a silently skips any that already carry a counter, so aim at unbuffed bodies.
- Have Renata Glasc, Industrialist on the board before the spend; her static is what R25 = A makes beat a token's printed 'exhausted'.
- Play Wildclaw Shaman for 4 Energy to your base.
- Its play effect: spend a buff off one of the bodies Fae Dragon buffed. 702.2.b removes that counter.
- Fae Dragon's second sentence sees the spend and plays a Gold gear token. Renata's static overrides the printed 'exhausted', so it arrives ready and 187.5's ability — '[Reaction][>] Kill this, [E]: [Add] [A]' — can be paid this turn for one rainbow Power.
- Wildclaw Shaman's own effect then buffs him and readies him. 415.1 marks him available; 144.2's exhaust is now payable, so he walks to a battlefield in the same Main Phase.
- Net for the turn: one buff counter moved, one rainbow Power gained, one 3 Might body standing at a battlefield the turn it was cast.
How it ends
engine only — three launderings a game (103.2.b), each worth one rainbow Power plus a body that arrives ready instead of a turn late; nothing here scores and the buff count never grows

REFUTE = a refutation pass, with its date and verdict · WOUNDED = the pass found a flaw and the entry was rewritten · BUDGETED = the pass checked the recycle-and-draw ledger · lens = the hunt that proposed it.
HAND-WALKED 2026-09-07, issue #170, from the buff-supply synergy rules; OGN-147 Wildclaw Shaman was in ZERO entries and is the pool's only card that spends a buff and immediately replaces it on itself. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Trap check: the ready is priced against 143.4 rather than described as 'value'; 702.3.a is cited as the reason a stationary counter is worth nothing, which is what makes relocation the product; the Gold is explicitly dead without Renata (187.5's exhaust) and R25 = A is named; the 'you may' is stated so the card is never claimed as a dead draw; 103.2.b caps the copies. Distinguished from `fae-dragon-wallop-industrialist`, whose spender is a SPELL that readies someone else and returns no counter, and from `overt-operation-fae-dragon-industrialist`, which spends and refills every counter at once.
