Yasuo's attack trigger clears the garrison before the damage step — and Nasus is standing there

Payoff
Deck
- Any Calm legend — Yasuo Remorseful, Svellsongur and Nasus are all mono-Calm (103.1.b.1). This is the cheapest identity of the four Nasus routes in the catalogue.
Prerequisites
- IT IS THE REPEATABLE VERSION OF THE BLOODLESS CONQUER, AND THAT IS THE WHOLE ADVANTAGE. The three [Action]-removal entries (draven-rebuke-bloodless-combat, wind-and-ghosts-nasus-bloodless-conquer, noxian-guillotine-legion-bloodless-fork) each spend a CARD per attack and 103.2.b caps them at three a game. Here the removal is a permanent that fires every time Yasuo attacks, for no Energy and no card — so the two points repeat for as long as there is a garrison to take.
- THE TRIGGER RESOLVES BEFORE THE DAMAGE STEP, WHICH IS WHY NOTHING OF YOURS IS EVER ASSIGNED DAMAGE. 383.4.e makes an Attack Trigger fire when a unit 'gains the Attacker designation for the first time during a combat', and 464.2.c.3 places that designation in step 1 of the Combat Showdown. 465.1 is step 2 and reads 'If both Attacking and Defending units remain at this battlefield, the following Tasks become Outstanding' — so if Yasuo's damage has already killed the garrison, no damage is ever assigned in either direction. 466.3.a then gives you the combat and 466.5 with 466.5.d makes Control a Conquer.
- THE ARITHMETIC, WITH THE QUANTITIES DECLARED. Svellsongur COMPOSES rather than adds (issue #45): 434.1.c gives the Top-Most Card all the Effect Text of all its attached cards, 477.2.c appends it in Layer 2 and 476.1 applies each effect only once across all sequences, so v Svellsongur yield 2^v instances of the attack trigger — ONE copy is TWO instances, two copies are FOUR. Each instance deals damage equal to Yasuo's Might, which Svellsongur's M+0 leaves at 6, and each picks 'an enemy unit here' independently (359.3.f.2 reads 'here' and the Might at execution). So one Svellsongur kills two defenders of 6 Might or less before the damage step; a garrison of three needs a second copy. R6 = A is what makes the copy track Yasuo's CURRENT text rather than a snapshot.
- NASUS HAS TO BE PRESENT, WHICH COSTS NOTHING BECAUSE AN ARMY WALKS IN ONE ACTION. 144.3: 'Players may perform multiple Units standard move simultaneously. This is treated as one game action performed on multiple Units', with 144.3.a requiring a shared destination and 144.3.c paying the exhausts simultaneously. 464.2.c.3 then gives the Attacker designation to every unit of yours at the battlefield, and 144.4.a.1's arrivals cap is unsatisfiable in a two-player game (#111). So Yasuo and Nasus enter together and both conquer.
- TWO POINTS PER ATTACK: the Conquer is a 469.1 Score capped by 470 at one per battlefield per turn, and Nasus's 'you score 1 point' is a 194.1.c Gain under R2 = A, which 470 does not touch. 471.1.a.1 lets the eighth point land, since points Gained from sources that are not Conquer are outside 471.1.b's Final Point restrictions.
- AND IT BLANKS THE EXCESS-DAMAGE FAMILY, WHICH IS WHY THE PAYOFF IS NASUS AND NOT TRYNDAMERE. R28 = A makes excess damage attacking Might that was never ASSIGNED, and 465.1 means nothing is assigned at all — so OGN-034 Tryndamere, SFD-120 Sivir, UNL-018 Yeti Brawler, UNL-187 Piltover Enforcer, UNL-188 Hextech Gauntlets and UNL-217 Trapping Grounds all read false here. Nasus's trigger is bare 'When I conquer', with no threshold and no 'after an attack' clause.
- IT STILL NEEDS A GARRISON. 461 stages a Combat only where units of two players meet and 807.1.d with 383.4.e make an empty battlefield no attack at all, so against an open battlefield Yasuo's trigger never exists — the ordinary Non-Combat Showdown Conquer applies (316.8.b.1, 348.2.a.1) and Nasus still scores, but the removal does nothing. And a defender above 6 Might survives an instance: two instances on one body is 12, which 465.2.c.4's assignment cap does not govern because this is a Deal, not combat damage.
- ONE CONQUER PER BATTLEFIELD PER TURN (469.1, 470), and neither body has [Ganking], so 144.4 keeps the pair to one battlefield a turn. To repeat it you have to give the battlefield back — 323.6 does that the moment you walk off — or take the other one (485.4, 'Battlefield Count: 2').
- SVELLSONGUR'S EQUIP IS 1 ENERGY + 1 CALM POWER AND 818.1 MAKES IT AN ACTIVATED ABILITY, so attaching is never playing and no [Weaponmaster] or 'when you play a gear' trigger fires off it.
Steps
- Land Yasuo, Remorseful (6 Energy + 2 Calm Power), Svellsongur (3 Energy + 1 Calm Power) and Nasus, Ascended (8 Energy + 1 Calm Power), and attach Svellsongur to Yasuo for 1 Energy + 1 Calm Power. Empower Nasus — his own 8-Energy [Empower], permanent by 441.2, or VEN-035 Sanction for the turn.
- From the next Awakening, Standard-move Yasuo and Nasus together to an enemy-garrisoned battlefield: 144.3 makes that one game action with a shared destination, and each pays its own exhaust (144.2, 144.3.c).
- 464.2.c.3 gives both the Attacker designation. Yasuo's attack trigger fires twice — his own and Svellsongur's copy — each dealing 6 to an enemy unit there.
- With the garrison dead, 465.1 finds no Defending units and the damage step never becomes Outstanding. Neither Yasuo nor Nasus is assigned anything.
- 466.3.a: you are the only player with units there. 466.5 and 466.5.d establish Control as a Conquer — 1 point — and Nasus's '[Empowered][>] When I conquer, you score 1 point' adds the second.
- Repeat every turn there is a garrison to take: the removal is a permanent, so no card is spent.
Per iteration
+2 points and the enemy garrison cleared per attack, with no damage assigned to either side and no card spent
How it ends
engine — 2 points per attack, repeatable every turn for no cards and no Energy once the board is set; one conquer per battlefield per turn, so eight points is four attacks

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-06 (docs/phase0/walks/2026-09-06-engine-payoff-walk.md, section 23). svellsongur-yasuo-remorseful-sweep's own terminatesIn is 'engine — repeatable removal; it scores nothing except by clearing a garrison so the Conquer happens', and the card that pays for that Conquer was never named. It is Nasus, and mono-Calm, so the pairing costs one card. This is also the answer to issue #155's refusal 2, which refused the whole repeatable-removal group because OGN-034 Tryndamere is a threshold rather than a scale: that is true, and it is beside the point — a removal engine converts through the CONQUER, not through Might, and the bloodless conquer it produces is precisely what switches Tryndamere off (465.1 assigns nothing, so R28 = A yields zero excess). Quantities: one Svellsongur is chosen deliberately over the source entry's three, because 2^v instances at 6 damage each clear a garrison of two, which is what a Duel garrison usually is; the scaling is stated rather than bought. Ban check: none of OGN-076, SFD-059 or VEN-046 carries a [BANNED marker, and none is a Signature card. Trap check: the attack is real, so 807.1.d/383.4.e/461 are satisfied rather than dodged; no [Temporary]; no [Repeat]; no token; no recall; no rune recycled; Svellsongur is M+0 so 709's 'becomes Mighty' event never fires from the attach. Depends on R2 = A, R6 = A and R28 = A, and on no open reading.
