Combo · ENGINE
A departure rider only pays a body that can leave to somewhere worth being — 144.4 is why that means [Ganking], and Yi, Honed brings his own
Pieces

[Ganking] (I can move from battlefield to battlefield.) I enter ready.

Payoff
Deck
- Yi, Honed is mono-Body and Back-Alley Bar is Colorless, so 103.1.b.1 is satisfied by any legend with Body as one of its two domains. Neither card is Signature.
- The battlefield is not guaranteed: 485.4.a has each player provide three and 485.5 randomly selects one, and 103.4.c forbids duplicates of a name — so the Bar arrives one time in three.
Prerequisites
- WHY THE RIDER NEEDS [GANKING] AND NOT JUST A MOVER. 144.4 restricts the Standard Move to two shapes: 144.4.a 'Units may move from their Base to a Battlefield' and 144.4.b 'Units may move from a Battlefield to their Base'. So without [Ganking] the only way to leave the Bar is to go HOME, where a '+1 Might this turn' is worth nothing. 144.4.c.1 — 'Units with Ganking may use their Standard Move to Move from Battlefield to Battlefield' — is what turns the departure into an arrival somewhere the Might matters.
- AND [GANKING] IS NOT AN EXTRA MOVE. 810.1.c.3 is explicit that it 'does not give additional abilities or activations of Movement, only new options for the Standard Move'. This is one move a turn, paid for with 144.2's exhaust, that happens to end at the other battlefield instead of at the base.
- 'I ENTER READY' IS WHAT MAKES THE FIRST TURN COUNT. 143.4 has units enter the board exhausted, so an ordinary body played to the Bar cannot leave it until 315.1.b readies it next Awakening. Yi arrives ready, pays 144.2 immediately, and collects the +1 on the way out on the turn he was cast.
- THE +1 IS A MODIFIER, NOT A BUFF, so 702.3's one-per-unit cap never touches it and it stacks with a real Buff counter — but 317.2.c expires it at the end-of-turn Cleanup, so it has to be spent in a combat that same turn.
- THE BAR PAYS ANYONE, INCLUDING THE OPPONENT. It says 'When a unit moves from here', not 'a friendly unit' and not 'you', which is both why 190.6.d cannot blank it (it is live before anyone controls it) and why bringing it is a symmetric offer.
- THE ARITHMETIC IS ONE MIGHT A TURN, AND THAT IS THE HONEST FIGURE. Yi attacks at 7 instead of 6 on any turn he moves off the Bar, forever, with no card spent — this is a rider on a move the deck was making anyway, not an engine that grows.
- AND IT IS THE SHAPE THE CATALOGUE ALREADY PRICED FROM THE OTHER SIDE: `back-alley-bar-forgotten-signpost-reinforcement` buys the departure with an EFFECT mover, three copies a game; this buys it with a keyword the body was printed with, every turn. Neither scores.
Steps
- Bring Back-Alley Bar as one of your three battlefields; 190.6.d never switches it off, so it is live from turn one.
- Play Yi, Honed (E7 + 1 Body Power) to the Bar. 'I enter ready' overrides 143.4, so he is available the same turn.
- In the same Main Phase, use his Standard Move: 144.4.c.1 lets him go battlefield to battlefield, paying 144.2's exhaust.
- The Bar's trigger sees the departure and gives him +1 Might this turn (477.3.e.1, a continuous modifier).
- He arrives at the other battlefield at Might 7. 190.3.a.1 applies Contested there, 323.9 stages the Combat and 465.2.c reads the modified Might at assignment.
- 317.2.c expires the +1 at the end-of-turn Cleanup; 315.1.b readies him at the next Awakening and the move — and the +1 — are available again.
How it ends
engine only — +1 Might on every turn Yi leaves the Bar, forever, for no card; the modifier expires each Cleanup and nothing here scores

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-07, issue #170, from `back-alley-bar-any-mover` and the Core-Rules-named sweep; OGS-009 Yi, Honed was in zero entries. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. The content is 144.4 read against a departure rider: without [Ganking] the only legal departure from a battlefield is to the base, where a '+1 Might this turn' is worthless, so the rider is only worth anything to a Ganking body or an effect mover. Trap check: 810.1.c.3 is cited so [Ganking] is not claimed as a second move; 143.4 is cited so 'I enter ready' is priced rather than decorative; the +1 is stated as a modifier and not a Buff, expiring at 317.2.c; the battlefield's symmetry and its 485.5 randomness are both stated; the contrast with the existing effect-mover entry is named.
