The Shadow Clone is the renewable banish, not Kennen — and the loot's own exhaust is why one a turn is all it is worth

Prerequisites

Steps

  1. Play Zed, Without a Sound (E5) or Zed, From the Shadows (E4 + 1 Fury Power, discarding a card as the additional cost). Either way a 0 Might Shadow Clone token arrives; 143.4 makes it enter exhausted, so it attacks from the next turn.
  2. Main Phase of a later turn: Standard-Move the clone into an enemy-held battlefield (144.4.a; its exhaust is the cost, 144.2 / 420.3.a). 190.3.a.1 and 450 apply Contested.
  3. The next Cleanup stages a Combat (323.9) and 323.13 opens it. 464.2.c.1 makes you the Attacker and 464.2.c.3 hands out the designation; the clone's 'When I attack' trigger goes on the Chain.
  4. Resolve it: banish a unit card from your trash, and the clone has [Assault 4] for the turn (807.1.d, 807.2).
  5. The banish is a card you own, so Master of Shadows is Empowered (441.1, 441.2).
  6. At any Open State on your turn, activate the legend: disempower him and exhaust him to discard 1 and draw 1. 315.1.b readies him in your next Awakening, so this is once a turn — and with a clone on the board it is EVERY turn.

Per iteration

one aimed discard-and-draw every turn, plus a 0-Energy 4-damage attacker, paid for by cards already in your trash

How it ends

engine only — the legend's exhaust caps the loot at one per turn however many banishes you make, and nothing here scores

How this entry was audited

REFUTE = a refutation pass, with its date and verdict · WOUNDED = the pass found a flaw and the entry was rewritten · BUDGETED = the pass checked the recycle-and-draw ledger · lens = the hunt that proposed it.

HAND-WALKED 2026-09-07 (issue #170), from the orphan synergy rule master-of-shadows-banish-empower (31 partners, 29 uncovered). It corrects a uniqueness claim in `master-of-shadows-banish-rummage` — 'Kennen is the only renewable banish in his own domains' — which that entry's own three copies of VEN-144 Death Mark refute, since Death Mark prints the Shadow Clone token and the clone's attack trigger banishes a card you own every combat. VEN-112 and VEN-023 were both in zero entries. Card text verbatim from data/corpus_flat.txt. Citations opened and read: 103.1.b.1, 103.1.b.2, 108.6.c, 143.2.a, 143.4, 144.2, 144.4.a, 185, 186.1, 190.3.a.1, 315.1.b, 323.9, 323.13, 383.4.e, 420.3.a, 441.1, 441.1.b, 441.1.c, 441.2, 450, 461, 464.2.c.1, 464.2.c.3, 465.2, 465.2.c.4, 807.1.d, 807.2. Ban check: VEN-143, VEN-112 and VEN-023 carry no [BANNED marker. Signature check: none of the three is Signature; the legend is fixed by the Zed champion tag on the legend itself, and the census (94 legend base codes) gives VEN-143 and VEN-191 as the only Zed legends. Trap check: the clone is a token, so 185 / 186.1 keep it out of every trash and recycle line; the banish is one-way (108.6.c); the attack REQUIRES a garrison (461, 807.1.d, 383.4.e); the loot's exhaust caps it at one per turn (415.1, 315.1.b); no [Temporary], no [Repeat], no buff so 702.3 is silent. Depends on no unruled reading. NOTE 2026-10-23 (#436): the activation needs him Empowered. 'Disempower me' is unpayable while he is not, by 203.3 with 442.1.a, the same pair 414.4 and 414.1.c are for Exhaust (finding in docs/rules-notes/rules-findings.md, #436), which is why the steps put the clone's banish first; the banished card comes from your own trash, so it is a card you own. Citations added: 203.3, 442.1.a, 442.1.a.1. Still depends on no unruled reading.
